Lots of news and photos from our 10th Anniversary Family Picnic–thanks to editor Nel Ward for pulling it all together for us each month!

Don’t miss the PFLAG Hero & 10th Anniversary Celebration on Wednesday, September 12th at 6:00 pm at St. Stephen’s Church in Newport.

We will be honoring two PFLAG Heroes, Lincoln County Commissioner Claire Hall and Trans Advocate Rhonda Jantzen, as well as celebrating PFLAG’s 10 years of support, education and advocacy in Lincoln County.

Thanks for all you’re doing to make Lincoln County more welcoming and supportive for all LGBTQ people — and others!!

Our PFLAG chapter is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this month with a Family Picnic at the Toledo Waterfront Park (where it’s warm) from 3-5 pm this Saturday, August 4. Please be there to celebrate this milestone!

Get your RAINBOW GEAR together and join us for the famous annual LaDeDa Parade in Yachats at noon TOMORROW, July 4. PFLAG and Welcoming Churches will be marching together with flags, banners, and family fun! Bring your family and friends and be part of the PFLAG Rainbow Team. Parade starts at 12–sharing rainbow gear at the new shelter behind Yachats Commons at 11am.

Mark Sat., Aug. 4 on your calendar now! PFLAG’s 10th Anniversary Picnic in the Park–at Toledo Waterfront Park from 3-5 pm. Just bring yourselves–we will provide food & drink!!

The 2nd Annual Yachats Pride event is next weekend and should be even bigger and more fun than last year! Here’s a link to the event on June 2 & 3. http://yachatspride.org/

During the Pride Festival PFLAG and Welcoming Churches are sharing an information table in the picnic shelter behind Yachats Commons. We will be there from 10:30am-5:30pm on Sat. and from 11:30-2:30 on Sunday.

And we invite you to come to the June 13 monthly PFLAG meeting at 6 pm at St. Stephen’s in Newport to help plan a 10th Anniversary Celebration for PFLAG Oregon Central Coast.

Oregon Central Coast PFLAG Scholarships

DESCRIPTION
Oregon Central Coast PFLAG GSA Scholarships are awarded to honor
and encourage Lincoln County students for their service to the
lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender/queer community. Scholarships may
be used for post-secondary education at accredited institutions –
colleges, universities, and trade schools.

REQUIREMENTS
Before you apply, review the complete eligibility requirements.
– Have demonstrated service to the LGBTQ community (applicants of all
sexual orientations and gender identities are eligible); and
– Volunteered or worked for an organization (such as a GSA, PFLAG,
or Upstander’s Club) that serves the LGBTQ community
– Have finished high school (or equivalent) in Lincoln County, Oregon
– Have been accepted or currently attend an accredited postsecondary
institution—college, university, or vocational school.

EVALUATION
LGBTQ community service is the primary evaluation criterion. We will
also consider leadership qualities, hardship, or special circumstances,
as well as academic achievement, so include those in your essay if they
relate to you.
